Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and introducing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
The preview shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and helping prize toys find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
